Seykahr had some downtime while docked at a station getting repairs on the Ryzn Sun. The local eatery had greasey plates and hot caf. They also had this game set up at the tables. A simple triangle with shards from local mech jammed into rows. You start with one empty hole. The rest are filled with shards. You jump a shard over another into the empty hole. The shard that was jumped over is removed from play. You continue jumping and discarding until you can jump no more. You try to get down to just one shard remaining.
He thought it’d be fun to retheme the game. To put a bit of him into it, if you will. And share it with our guests. See below for the full instructions and the opportunity to get a set for yourself.
Mission Briefing: The Kyber Peg Game
Your objective is to eliminate the crystals until only one remains. To leave only one peg is to achieve the rank of Jedi Master. To leave four or more is to be relegated to the Outer Rim as a “scruffy-looking nerf herder.”
1. Initial Setup
The board is a triangular starfield with 15 slots.
- Place a crystal into every slot except for one.
- The empty slot is your “Thermal Exhaust Port”—the starting point for your tactical maneuvers.
2. The Hyperjump (The Move)
You can only remove a crystal by “jumping” over it.
- Pick up a crystal and jump over an adjacent peg into an empty space directly behind it.
- Movement must follow the lines of the star-map (horizontal or diagonal). No “curved” flight paths through the asteroid field.
3. Clearing the Sector
Once a crystal has been jumped over, it is “defeated.” Remove it from the board immediately and place it in the cargo hold (the side of the table).
4. Reaching the Final Frontier
The game continues until no more legal jumps are possible. Your final score determines your connection to the Force:
| Pegs Remaining | Galactic Rank |
| 1 Peg | Jedi Master: The Force is strong with this one. |
| 2 Pegs | Jedi Knight: Great kid, don’t get cocky. |
| 3 Pegs | Padawan: Your aim is… lacking. |
| 4+ Pegs | Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder: Complete system failure. |
💡 Master Yoda’s Secret Tip
“Empty, the corner must be, if victory you seek.” Starting with the center hole empty is a path to the Dark Side (it’s much harder). Most apprentices find success by leaving one of the apex (corner) holes empty to begin their journey.
